DNA

We are currently developing a new project commissioned by Bath and North East Somerset Council to create new ways for communities, and particularly families, to engage with high quality art in all forms

DNA is a consortium of The Desperate Men and The Natural Theatre Company, arts leaders Phillippa Haynes and Mijanou Blech and is led by the arts education company bcreative.

The consortium will produce 3 community arts events in Snow Hill/London Road, Foxhill/Twerton and Radstock in the spring of 2015. In each community we want to harness the ideas of the people who live there, what’s important to them and what they want to say, and, with their participation, forge all that into a compelling and accessible artistic expression.

We’ll be engaging with community groups, children’s centres, schools, and youth centres as well as local artists and practitioners.

There will be a strong young people’s offering Arts Awards to those who participate and we’ll be employing four young people on formal apprenticeships to help co-ordinate the programme.

Our overall aim is to engage families who rarely come into contact with exciting and stimulating art, to give them ownership of what they create with the artists, and to leave a lasting legacy of communities that have been enriched by the arts and have the tools to continue to create.
